"Ding" Darling National Wildlife Society is hosting its 33rd Annual “Ding” Darling Day on Sunday, October 10th from 10 AM to 2 PM at Lakes Park.

This year, the Wildlife Society plans to focus on making the “great migration” across the Causeway to Lakes Park in Fort Myers. Their hope is to bring more attention to the Refuge and reach more communities. The migration across the Causeway is part of a larger movement, the Refuge System-Wide Urban Initiative.

“The Wildlife on Wheels project was the first big step that refuge educators took toward spreading the word about conservation beyond the refuge’s borders,” according to Sanibel Captiva. “The WoW will be at the center of the free “Ding” Darling Day. Besides tours of the classroom, the refuge and DDWS have planned a full day of activities.”

“Ding” Darling Day will host a variety of family-friendly events and activities. The goal is to get outside and enjoy the habitats and animals that call Southwest Florida home while learning all about them.

Families can participate in games, crafts, special programs, guided walks, and can also learn more about the Refuge.

The outdoors have become more important than ever with this past year. “Ding” Darling continues to dedicate their lives to the wildlife that is so crucial to the Sanibel community.
