Have a side of retail with your main entrée
On Sanibel Island, the birds are chirping, the vegetation is growing, and the beaches are spectacular. What’s also awesome about the island is that the delicious dining and shopping choices are numerous. You can pick up everything from furniture to clothing to jewelry to artwork. And some places offer a chance to dine and shop right under the same roof, or steps away, making it easier to cross a few items off your holiday list or pick something up for yourself.

Traders is one option that offers both under the same roof. “Our menu leans heavily and happily into fresh seafood entrees and appetizers,” says owner Roseanne Giordani, who operates Traders with her sister, Lisa Marie Giordani. “Some favorites include Baked Oysters Florentine, Seared Scallops with Lobster Ravioli, and a Signature Seafood Pasta entrée. But you’ll also see comfort classics like Bourbon Glazed Beef Short Ribs and Chicken Parmesan on the menu.” Award-winning executive Chef Mike Patnode skillfully dishes up a selection of recipes using mahi mahi, shrimp, crab, oysters, scallops, and grouper.
In addition to a large, yet warm, open dining room, Traders houses a lively bar area. And just beyond the bar is Traders’ true surprise—a beautiful and well-curated retail store. “A perfect place to shop and stroll before or after dinner. Or plan a lunch date with your friends and do some serious shopping afterwards,” says Giordani. Traders Store carries resort-inspired ladies and men’s clothing with unique accessories such as handbags and jewelry, plus an amazing assortment of home goods and gifts, carefully selected by buyer Lisa Marie Giordani.

Another good place to combine dining and shopping is on Tarpon Bay Road, and, of course, the main drag Periwinkle Way. These two Sanibel streets are lined with many places to eat, shop, enjoy art, and browse, all within proximity. There are many award-winning restaurants and unique shops where you can find the perfect something for yourself or someone else. Or shop for that perfect holiday gift or souvenir.
